Margaret Stephenson Montgomery

Funeral for Margaret Stephenson Montgomery, 85, of Hartselle was Thur., Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Michael Wakefield, the Rev. Eddie Card and Dr. Joe Hernandez officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Montgomery died Sun., Oct. 11, 2015, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 6, 1930, in Morgan County to John Pruitt Stephenson and Chellie Chenault Stephenson. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Speake. She was a faithful and devoted minister’s wife, who constantly was at her husband’s side, in all his efforts to help lead God’s people in their spiritual life as he pastored churches in the Morgan Baptist and Muscle Shoals Baptist Associations. Mrs. Montgomery served as WMU director, and was active in all the mission organizations in the Morgan Baptist and the State Missions. She taught Sunday School and served as vacation Bible school director. She served as church pianist and assisted in church music programs. She also served as church prayer coordinator. Mrs. Montgomery enjoyed needlework and cooking and had a special gift for caring and loving those who were in need. She was the secretary and District Administrative Coordinator for the Morgan Soil and Water Conservation District and Soil Conservation Service for 38 years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Lyndon Montgomery of Hartselle; two daughters, Marcia M. Card (Rev. Eddie Card) of Lilburn, Ga. and Patricia M. Wakefield (Rev. Mike Wakefield) of Thompson Station, Tenn.; a sister, Helen Hogan of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Lauren C. McKenzie, Lana C. Hawkins, Hannah Wakefield and Joshua Wakefield; two great-grandchildren, Stephen McKenzie and Madi Beth McKenzie.

Pallbearers were Paul Hogan, Dr. Joe Hernandez, John Montgomery, Jere Montgomery, Mike Dowdy and Joe Pitt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home @https://secure-q.net/Donations/alabamabaptist/9804 or to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention @https://netcommunity.imb.org/Donation/imb/LMCO.
