The theme of the program was “Honoring Those Who Served…in Time of War, in Time of Peace.”

Traditionally held in the Pettey Center, the program was moved to the smaller location due to the gym floor being replaced.

In attendance were 50 to 60 veterans mostly representing their grandchildren attending seventh grade at the junior high. The program was duplicated Tuesday for veterans invited by members of the eighth grade class.

Four students, two from the seventh and two from the eighth grade, read essay and poems they wrote to honor veterans for their military sacrifice and service. The readers were Cassie Der, Spencer Bell, Kelly Nance and Will King. These four were joined by eighth grader Emma Crawford for the Tuesday program.

The welcome was given by Jacob McDonald. Seth McGee led the Pledge of Allegiance. Jonathan Carnes gave remarks honoring guests. Following the playing of taps by Dawson Miller, taps by Dawson Miller, Tyde Ward gave the dismissal.

The 80-voice combined school chorus sang a special patriotic song in addition to the battle hymns of each branch of the military service.

Librarian Beth Rabb coordinated the program.
