Falkville falls to Randolph County

A heart-breaking loss for the Blue Devils on the road took place in Wedowee of Randolph County, 56-27 on Friday night.

Falkville took the ball to start the game, but quick lost possession after a interception thrown by Ryan Sullivan. Randolph County Used the Blue Devil’s mishap to quickly produce points. Reco Hannahmanaged a short run for a touchdown after the Tiger’s quickly set-up their first drive. William Sledge added the extra point with 9:47 to play in the opening quarter.

Falkville fought for points of their own a few minutes later. Sullivan found Andy Dove on a 20-yard pass play for a touchdown at the 5:05 mark. Sullivan also kicked the extra point.

The Tigers fired back with a 40-yard run for a touchdown under a minute later. Sledge was true on his extra point, and the Tigers led again 14-7.

Randolph County managed one more score in the first quarter on a 30-yard pass play from 18-2 for a touchdown. Sledge remained perfect on his extra point attempts.

Mimicking the first quarter, the Tigers kicked off the scoring with a pass from John Mark Prestridge to Stacy Roundtree for a touchdown. Sledge was true on the extra point, and RCHS extended the lead 28-7.

The Tigers would score once more before the half on a 4-yard carry wrapping a seven-yard drive in the hands of Seth Hannah. Another extra point was added by Sledge and Randolph County led at the half 35-7.

A pass complete to Roundtree from Prestridge started the third quarter’s scoring with 11:09 on the board. Sledge was there to add the extra point., sending the score 42-7.

Falkville replied with a score of their own on the next drive. After six plays, FHS’s Sullivan found Dove on a 19-yard pass play. Sullivan added the extra point and FHS entered their second set of points in the game.

A big 49-yard gain by Seth Hannah in the following Tiger drive put six more on the board for RCHS. Sledge’s PAT was good.

Devin Reed made his presence known by returning Randolph County’s kick-off 92 yards for a touchdown. Sullivan added the PAT and FHS fought back, still behind 49-211 with 7:31 to play in the third quarter.

Another back-to- back scoring drive by RCHS furthered the lead 56-21 with a sweep pass Prestridge to Hannah with 4:39 on the board. Sledge was flawless on the extra point attempts for the night.

FHS would score once more in the final seconds of the fourth quarter on a 10-yard pass-play from Sullivan to Bryan White.

Randolph County will host Cleveland next Friday.
