Funeral for William Irvin (Buddy) Garner, 86, of Orlando, Fla., was Tues., Jan. 19, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Roundtop Church with the Rev. Henry Shellman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Roundtop Cemetery.
Mr. Garner died Fri., Jan. 15, 2016, at his residence in Florida. He was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Blount County to William Irvin Garner Sr. and Flora Ozell Burns Garner. He was a man that loved his family. He worked 37 years with the BellSouth Company and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid lover of the water and loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He believed anything you sought out to do; you should do it with all you’ve got and to the best of your ability. He will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him and will be remembered each and every day. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary F. Garner; a son, Steve Garner; a sister, Martha Garner McCaig; and a brother-in-law, Harold McCaig.
He is survived by his wife, Betty B. Garner; a son, Mike Garner (Janice); two daughters, Teresa Rinesmith (Mike) and Kristy Blackburn (Chris); five stepdaughters; a sister, Inez Jones (Paul); 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Garner, David Garner, Chris Garner, Greg McCaig, Mike Rinesmith and Robbie Rinesmith.
