Hartselle Lady Tigers without win despite Cain’s strength on mound

The Hartselle Lady Tigers traveled to Buckhorn to take on the Bucks on Mon., Feb. 29. Despite a great game by Hope Cain on the mound and both teams tying with 5 hits, Buckhorn took the 2-1 win over Hartselle. Cain accounted for 6 strikeouts, which included 18 first pitch strikes. Kaitlyn Spangler led the Tigers with 2 hits. Both Spangler and Gracie Poe accounted for two quality at bats.
Hartselle also faced off with the West Morgan Rebels later in the week. Hope Cain once again pitched a tough game with 13 first pitch strikes and 6 strikeouts. However, it wouldn’t be enough as the Tigers would fall 1-0.
Hartselle would then take on Helena. Despite a 4-2 hit advantage Hartselle would go scoreless and lose the game 2-0. Kaitlyn Spangler led Hartselle with 2 hits. Cain would have 12 first pitch strikes and 3 strikeouts.
Hartselle’s last game of the week would come against Sumiton Christian. Once again, Hope Cain would take the mound. Cain would throw 11 first pitch strikes and 8 strikeouts but Sumiton Christian would take the win 3-1. Kennadi Hogan had the only hit for the Tigers.
