Sherry Bryan honored with birthday party

What a difference does a day make? When I was in elementary school all of the windows were kept open because there was no air conditioning. Keeping the windows open was the only way we had to keep cool. One day the pest control man came to the house that was next to the school and several students, including me, were overcome by the fumes. The Health Department was called and they sent a health official to check us out. We were not sent to a doctor, he told us to go home and only eat oatmeal cookies for several days. The cookies were kept in a large cookie jar on the counter at the store and were sold for a penny each. There was not a lock down of the school or town.
