Decatur teacher charged with having sex with two students

A Decatur teacher has been arrested and charged with two counts of having sex with a student under the age of 19. Carrie Cabri Witt was booked into the Decatur City Jail and was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

On March 17th, 2016 the Decatur Police Department received information that a teacher in the Decatur City School system had been involved in a sexual relationship with at least one student, who was under the age of 19 years old. Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit opened an investigation into these allegations.  During the following days, Detectives interviewed numerous people and found that there was a second victim in this case.

On March 21st, 2016 Detective Burleson and Detective Young made contact with Witt at her home.  Witt was brought to the Decatur Police Department for an interview and at the conclusion of the interview Witt was placed under arrest for two counts of a school employee engaging in sex acts with a student under the age of 19.

The crime of a school employee engaging in a sex act  with a student under 19 is a Class B felony.
