Final inspection of the new Priceville High School was completed by the Alabama Building Commission Monday with faculty, support personnel and students expected to occupy the main building on or about April 1.

“An inspection team was in the building on Friday,” said Principal Mark Mason.  “A punch list was made and is being addressed by the builder. I was told only minor discrepancies were found and they can be corrected without causing any further.

Mason said the best case scenario for student occupancy will come shortly after the junior class takes the ACT exam on April 19.

“If the building passes inspection right away,” he said, “we’ll have ownership for a few weeks before students make the change. This would allow our teachers some time to set up their classrooms at their own convenience.”

“Everyone is excited about getting into the new building,” he added.  “Our seniors have a special interest since they want to be the first class to graduate at the new campus.”

At a March 11 meeting, school board members were told it is expected that the main building will be ready for occupancy by the end of March. The field house is expected to be ready in April.  Punch list work will be completed by May 1.
