The 2016 Morgan county softball tournament took place this past weekend with a lot of exciting action.

Hartselle took on West Morgan in one of the opening games. The Rebels took the lead early in the first inning 3-0 thanks to scores from Goodpastor, G. Terry and J. Terry. Hartselle would work to climb back in the game in the next few innings. Bailey Powell would score on a single by Anna Stinson to cut the score to 3-1. The Tigers would tie the game 3-3 in the third when both Taylor Spangler and Kalli Cartee scored on fielder’s choices. West Morgan would retake the lead in the fourth at 4-3. Hartselle would tie the game back up when Cartee singled to drive in Stinson. The Tigers would then take the lead for the first time when Kennadi Hogan advanced on a throw. Hartselle would go on to win the game 6-4 with Hope Cain getting the pitching win.

Hartselle would then take on the Danville Lady Hawks. The Tigers would take the lead in the second inning. Cain would double to drive in Mary Jane Wooley and then Powell would hit a 2-run home run to drive in herself and Cain and give Hartselle a 3-0 lead. The Tigers would tack on 6 more runs in the fourth inning. Cartee would double to drive in Sara Faulk and Lindsey Robinson would single to drive in Hogan and Cartee and make the score 6-0. Wooley scored once again thanks to a single from Powell and then Powell and Cain would score due to a single from Gracie Poe and make the score 9-0.
