Marie Letson Speegle

A graveside service for Marie Letson Speegle, 86, of Decatur was Thur., April 14, at 3 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Bro. J. Wayne Penn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Speegle died Mon., April 11, 2016, at Decatur Morgan Parkway Medical Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Lawrence County to Omer Henderson Letson and Mallie Mae Norwood Letson. She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church, but for many years prior to moving to Decatur, she was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandson and great-grandson. She loved flowers and gardening and her special friend and dog, Angel.

She is survived by a daughter, Claudette Shelton of Hartselle; a brother, Gwin Letson (Jackie) of Athens; a sister, Nadine Letson Reed of Montgomery; grandchild, Shaun David Montgomery; two great-grandchildren, Xander Montgomery and Brock Montgomery; niece, Debbie Hill; and nephews, Gary Reed and Greg Letson.

Pallbearers were Shaun Montgomery, Xander Montgomery, Brock Montgomery, William Hannah, John Crowell, Carl Terry, Greg Letson, Dewayne Hill, Waymon Jones and Gary Reed.
