GayNell Wilhite celebrates 80th birthday with special lunch

GayNell Wilhite of Corinth Community was 80 years young on Wed., April 6, and was honored on Sun., April 10, with lunch at Corinth West Baptist Church. The women’s group had decorated the fellowship hall and gym with red and white-checkered tablecloths and pots of red roses, which were later given to the honoree. Everyone enjoyed the barbecue pork, sides, birthday cake, ice cream and drinks. GayNell received many cards, money, gift cards and other gifts.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week for Dale Boyd, Stoshia Logan and Jayce Robertson, all on April 20, Callie Parker and Emma Parker on April 21 and Whitney Holbert on April 24.

Those attending the lunch for former Weekday’s Deli patrons at the Holy Smoke BBQ were Jimmy McClanahan, Chris Warnick, Katie and Daniel Beavers, Fred and Sandra Smith, Kay Farrer, Traci Slate, Larry Anders and Jerri and Junior Hyatt. Everyone enjoyed the food and the fellowship.

Fairview: The Grace Place will have a church wide workday April 23, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Jonathan Warner is in charge of the clean-up activity. The College and Career Day will be April 21 at 6:30 p.m. and small groups will meet at Fairview Church.

On Wed., April 13, the Emmanuel Mennonite Congregation had Bible study at 7 p.m. Brother Sam and Arlene Nisly had returned on Tues., April 12, from a revival in White Church, Ontario Canada. There were morning and evening services Sun., April 10, and each night, April 4-8, at 7 p.m. The Nisly’s visited their daughter Gloria and son-in-law Mike Hershburger in Ohio on March 31 and April 1-4. Brother Wayne Nisly and his sister, Wanita Nisly and Eli and Rosie Kauffman attended the funeral of a friend in Montezuma, Ga., over the weekend of April 9-10.

Brother Tony and Twila Thorne and grandchildren attended Mt. Vernon Sun., April 10. Brother Tony conducted the morning worship service.

On Sat., April 2, Piney Grove Congregational Methodist Church hosted a 90th birthday party for Leon Hightower.

Brother David Teel was the speaker for McKendree UMC Thrive service on Sun., at 2:30 p.m. in the Bridge Center. Brother David is pastor at Forrest Chapel UMC. The topic was about God as a God of second chances. Noah Battles led the praise and worship service. Tom Summerford, Tammy Vest and Hank Summerford sang. Noah led the benediction. Tina Summerford was in charge of the finger food refreshments, also at the Bridge Center. Hank and Marsha Summerford and Selena Lindsey met with the McKendree and Forrest Chapel youth in the fellowship hall after the Thrive service. Hank presented the program.

Special get well wishes go out this week for Joyce 0’Neil, Brother Mike Vest and Hattie Mae Hardin.

Christian love and heartfelt sympathy goes out this week for Bobby Spurlin’s family and the family of Dakota Parker.

Belated birthday wishes go out this week for Derrell Shelton on April 8, Marsha Summerford on April 15 and happy birthday wishes for Trey Summerford on April 23.
