Lewis “Snake” Bates

Funeral for Lewis “Snake” Bates, 81, of Hartselle was Wed., April 27, at 11 a.m. at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery.

Mr. Bates died Mon., April 25, 2016, at his residence. He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Winston County to Roy Bates and Alvado Ledlow Bates. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a son, Danny Bates (Beverly) of Hartselle; three daughters, Melissa Knighten (Paul) of Priceville, Anita “Neeney” Hensley of Hartselle and Susan Metcalf (John) of Vinemont; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren

Pallbearers were family and friends.
