Barkley Bridge Elementary educators recognized by Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way named Barkley Bridge Principal Susan Hayes the 2016 Alabama PLTW Advocate of the Year and 4th grade teacher Angie Harris as the 2016 Alabama PLTW Launch Teacher of the Year.

Hayes is recognized for her leadership in turning a traditional, high-performing elementary school into a featured science, technology, engineering and mathematics school, and for reaching out to and sharing with other school districts across the nation who may want to do the same.

Harris is recognized for the foundation work of implementing the Launch elementary curriculum as a lead teacher of Barkley Bridge Elementary and the impact it has made on every K-4 student.

Harris is also being recognized for the rich classroom instruction she provides for 4th graders using high-level questioning and a design model for problem-solving.

Both educators will be recognized at the Project Lead the Way State Conference in Auburn on Nov. 10.
