Morgan County Schools Give Thanks for Their Survivors

Special to the Enquirer

Throughout the months of October and November, the Morgan County Schools System recognized and celebrated the cancer survivors who continue to serve daily in their school system.

“We are excited that these individuals have fought and won battles with cancer, and it is an honor to have them still serving our students and each other every day,” said Superintendent Bill Hopkins Jr. “I am so excited that our schools and our central office have recognized these individuals in our system because we want them to know we love and appreciate them.”

Every school did something special for their survivors over the past two months, and students were a big part of the celebrations.

“Cancer affects every family in some way and we are a family in Morgan County. When one hurts or struggles, that feeling is shared with everyone around, so we want our students to be a part of these special moments too,” Hopkins said. “Life is a gift and we want to recognize that we all need each other at some time in our lives, and right now happens to be their time. We just want all of the survivors to know we love them and are thankful they are here and a part of our Morgan County family.”

Below is a list of cancer survivors who are still working in the Morgan County School System.  Some are retired and enjoying life at home while others are still fighting their battle and will remain nameless.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our family of survivors, especially those who are still fighting their battle,” Hopkins said. “We are a family, we care and we are here for one another.”
