ZION CHURCH HOST PLAY”JESUS MEANS CHRISTMAS TO ME” The Members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosted a children’s play “Jesus Means Christmas To Me” on Sun., Dec. 18 during the 6:00 p.m. worship service that was directed by Tracy Ward. On Dec. 18 the Choir Cantata was held during the Sunday morning service at 11:00 a.m. and was led by Jerome Ward, the Mt. Zion Music Director. McKendree United Methodist Church had their children’s program, Christmas carols, soup, sandwiches and “Santa Claus”” on Sun. night, Dec. 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Corinth West Baptist Senior Citizen Day was Tue., Dec. 20 at 11:00 a.m. A traditional Christmas potluck meal was served. Belinda Ricks and Brother Glenn Miller were in charge of the food and prepared the ham and the turkey for the meal. GayNell Wilhite welcomed everyone and introduced visitors. She recognized Dec. birthday members and anniversaries. The church’s women’s group gave door prizes and Christmas bags to everyone. Prayer requests were given and the Christmas scripture was read and prayer for those requested and the blessing of the food. After a bountiful lunch, the 40 people attending enjoyed 4 games of bingo and received prizes donated and Anita Reid purchased good prizes for the bingo games.

Jenny Asherbranner, Librarian at Falkville’s Public Library has urged patrons and new residents to come by and check out books, get library cards, check out films, read magazines and newspapers and use the computers. Also, hardback books and paperbacks are on sale in many categories. The Library Board met on Fri., Dec. 9 at 5:30 at Oh’ Bryan’s Restaurant in Hartselle. They enjoyed Christmas gifts and fellowship before their Christmas meal. Those attending were Jane Hill, Pam MacDonald, Rhona Summerford, Julie Asherbranner and Jenny Asherbranner.                                                      The family of Rhona Summerford surprised her with her an “80th Birthday Party” at McKendree United Methodist Church on Sun. afternoon, Dec. 4. Chad Summerford made beautiful flower arrangements for the tables and Chad and Trey Summerford did the decorating and catered the food for the event. Brothers Chad and Trey cater in the area for receptions, luncheons, teas and parties.                     The Women’s Missionary Union at Mt. Zion Baptist Church met on Mon. night, Dec. 19 at 6:00 p.m. They hosted a Christmas meal for the Milestones Drugs Rehab group and their director, Kim Upton. Beverly Murphy is the W.M.U. president and Brother Wayne Penn is their pastor.               Christian love and heartfelt prayers go out this week for Paul Byrd, Dewel C. Lott, David Buckelew, Shirley Pope, Dana Henslee, Anita Reid, Linda Husky, Connor Lovelady and Phil Hardin.                                      Christian love and sympathy goes out this week for the family of Bob Wise and also for the family of Dessie Garrison Vandiver, formerly of Harmony Grove and Moulton.
