A wreck on Danville Road killed two people and injured one on Tuesday at approx. 5:43 a.m.

According to the Alabama State Trooper Decatur post, Brenda Barryman, 59, of Decatur was pronounced dead at the scene. She and her husband, Edgar Barryman, 64, of Decatur safely got out of their burning Chevrolet Tahoe which collided head-on with a Red Pick-up Truck driven by Bryan Johnson, 31, of Danville.

After exiting their vehicles and waiting on the side of the road, Johnson and Brenda Barryman were struck by a third vehicle, a Ford F-150, and Brenda Barryman died on the scene. Johnson was airlifted a short time later to Huntsville Hospital where he later died.

Matthew Carrington, 39, of Falkville drove the third vehicle, the Ford F-150 and was reportedly not injured. He reportedly swerved to avoid the wreckage and hit the victims of the car crash.

Sheriff Ana Franklin, the Morgan County Sheriff’s office deputies and Alabama State Troopers both responded to the scene of the accident just before 6 a.m. at 6200 Block of Danville Road near the Boys Ranch road and Neel Church of Christ.

According to a statement by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn, both victims died from blunt force trauma.

The Neel community, just outside of Danville in Morgan County, had a large portion of Danville Road completely closed off to drivers as the roadway was still being cleared even hours later.

Edgar Barryman is being evaluated at Huntsville Hospital and is expected to survive according to the Decatur State Trooper post.

The State Troopers are investigating the accident. More information will be posted as it is provided.
