Oxford’s offense too much for host Tigers

The Hartselle Tigers took their second loss of the season when the Oxford Yellow Jackets topped them on the road 7-4. Oxford’s offense proved to be to much as they outhit the Tigers 9-6.

After two scoreless innings, Oxford took the first lead in the top of the third when they Jackets doubled to drive in two runs. Oxford added another run in the inning when they scored after an error. Hartselle answered in the second inning when Connor Burks scored off an Austin Parker double. Trace Carpenter also scored off a passed ball to cut the lead to 3-2. Oxford extended their lead back to three runs in the fourth inning at 5-2. Hartselle cut it to 5-3 in the sixth when Cy Harris scored off a passed ball, but a two run blast by the Jackets during the top of the seventh all but secured the win. Parker hit solo shot to start the bottom of the seventh but Hartselle still went on to lose 7-4.

Grayson Bray took the loss for the Tigers as he pithed five innings while giving up six hits and five runs with six strikeouts. Brady Netherton and Austin Parker led Hartselle in hits with two each.
