One of the newest businesses to Hartselle and the first ever beverage store in the city opened its doors to the public on March 31,2017.

Hartselle Beverages paired its business with the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce and hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony with members of the city council, chamber and owners of the location on Tuesday, April 12.

Hartselle Beverages owner Johnny Solomon, who also owns the Jet-Pep gas station attached to the Beverage store, said he began looking into the idea before the wet/dry vote was finalized in 2016.

“ I thought about the possibility of opening the store in the case that the city went wet,” Solomon said. “If it wasn’t for the ABC Beverage people and Rita Lee being so very supportive, it would have been a lot harder to make this happen. Sometimes I would be calling two-three times a day checking to make sure everything was done.”

Solomon said he moved to Hartselle eight years ago from the Athens area.

“We also own the Hartselle Jet-Pep on Highway 31,” Solomon said. “Hartselle has been good to us, and have been very accepting. We’re looking forward to growing with Hartselle, and hoping to continue to progress.”
