The Morgan County Commission announced the bidding of the final bridge project for an A-Trip schedule that has been in the making for about four years during their meeting on Tuesday, April 9.

Commission Chairman Ray Long said they received a sum of money several years ago from the state ($16 million) to complete more than a half dozen projects across the county.

“We got 16 million from the state for 8-9 bridge projects and this is the last one we are doing to wrap up the A-Trip schedule,” Long said. “They’ve been in the planning stages for 3-4 years, so we’re excited to be finishing it. The State is doing an 80/20 match with us.”

Morgan County Engineer Greg Bodley said the bid came in from Bridge Builders of Alabama to do the project for around $727,000.

“They are scheduled to have 90 working days which translates into four-five months,” Bodley said. “They will start in a couple of months.”

The Bridge is located right on the Hartselle/Falkville line on U.S. Highway 31 that starts going onto Cedar Creek Church Road. Bodley said the bridge is 84 feet long and 28 feet wide.
