Priceville Council revises hours for sale of alcohol

Priceville Town Council gave unanimous consent to an ordinance revising the authorized hours for the sale of alcohol within the town’s corporate limits at its regular meeting April 24.
Pursuant to its publication as required by law, the ordinance limits the sale of liquor, wine or beer as follows:
•Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
•Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. (midnight)
•Sunday, no sales allowed
The Council acted on other agenda items as follows:
•Approved a low bid of $30,562.03 from Larry Signs for an electronic to be installed at Veterans Memorial Park. Shelton Sign Co. submitted a bid of $48,400.
•Approved a bid of $27,970 from Champion of Decatur for a 2017 Dodge ½ ton 4×4 crew cab pickup truck for the Utilities Department. Two other bids were received. They were $30, 055 from Lynn Layton Ford and $30,359.93 from Lynn Layton Chevrolet.
• Approved payment of March bills totaling $59,293.79
•Approved the release of a $150,000 maintenance bond Baker Farm Subdivision
•Approved lodging, registration and travel expenses for Donna Eckl to attend a Magistrate Maintenance Class in Montgomery on June 9, 2017
Mayor Melvin Duran and council members were invited as special guests to attend the fifth grade D.A.R.E. graduation at Priceville Junior High School on May 2 at 8:30 a.m. in the big gym.
