CORINTH WEST BAPTIST WOMEN TO HOLD WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

On Sun., May 7, the Women’s group met at Corinth West Baptist Church in the adult Sunday School room at 10 a.m. The Men’s Club met at 10 a.m., also and they enjoyed breakfast in the fellowship hall. During the women’s business session they planned on May 16, Senior Citizens Day at which everyone enjoyed the fish fry menu. Also plans were made for their Women’s Conference theme “How Salty Are You?” Other plans were also made for the Sat., June 17 activities. The scripture for the Conference will be Matthew 5:13 “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savior, where-with shall it be salted? If it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot by men.” The breakfast meal was provided by Donna Smithson, and Shanda Garner provided the juice and drinks for those attending. Dana Henslee will be in charge of the Conference event and Cathy Nelson of Moulton will be the speaker. Special music will be presented by soloist, Sherry York from the Church of the Forest and the pianist will be Sherry Alexander of Falkville. Cathie Guthrie will coordinate the lunch, and Dawn Shedd is in charge of decorations. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and a continental breakfast will also be served. The Conference will be from 9:30 a.m. until everyone has enjoyed lunch and fellowship. There will be gifts for everyone and door prizes as well. The Women’s group had a breakfast of muffins, fruit, ham roll ups, juice and coffee. Kamee Morgan adjourned the meeting.

Special happy birthday wishes go out this week for Shirley Pope, May 26 and happy birthday wishes also go out this week for Sarah Hadley Gaines, May 27.

Wonderful happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week for Jim and Karen Walker and they will celebrate their special day on May 29. I hope that this will be the “BEST” anniversary yet my friends.

Christian love and heartfelt prayers go out this week for Brother Glenn Miller.

The Summer Reading Program theme for the Falkville Public Library will be ” Building a Better World”. Plans were made for the month of July activities. Rhona Summerford, President of the Library Board, conducted the regular quarterly meeting on Tues., May 9th at 4:30 p.m. in the office-conference room . Those attending were Pam MacDonald, Tina Rogers, Kay Farrer, Jenny Asherbranner and Rhona Summerford.

The Mt. Vernon Methodist Memorial Decoration was held on Sun., May 14 at 11 a.m. Pastor Brother Glenn McCain did the devotional. Bud Woods has traditionally been in charge of the program. Roxanne Asherbranner led the Memorial Service and music. After a Pot Luck lunch, there was a convention gospel singing and hymns led by the Congregation.

Special Get Well wishes go out this week for Jacky Walker, Jane Hill, Joyce Blackmon and Letha Hopkins.

Wonderful happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week for Mark and Bobbie Nix, they will celebrate their anniversary on May 25.

Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week for Elijah Adcock and he celebrated his birthday on May 18.

The Members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church enjoyed their monthly pot luck supper and business meeting at 6:15 p.m. Brother Wayne Penn conducted the meeting on Wednesday night, May 10.

The Women’s group met on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Beverly Murphy presided and conducted the business. Afterward, the Bible Study was on the book ” Walk or Trot and Off With the Mask”. The Bible Study is taught by Faye Ward.
