CORINTH WEST METHODIST HOLDS MEMORIAL SERVICE

The Members of the Corinth West Methodist Church held a Memorial Service on Sun., May 21 at 11 a.m. The program committee for the service included Susan Shedd, Roxanne Asherbranner, Melanie Maddox and also Shelley Maddox. The service was part of the Church Decoration Day, May 21 activities. Brother Wayne Jetton gave the devotional. Afterwards, there were memorial readings, poems and music. Also Volunteers spoke about family members who had died. A potluck lunch followed at noon in the fellowship hall. A convention gospel and hymn singing led by the committee was a highlight of the memorial.

On Sunday afternoon, May 21, Falkville United Methodist Church hosted a Tea for the graduates and parents of the Class of 2017 from Falkville High School, from 3p.m. to 5 p.m. The honored guests and other attendees enjoyed the elegant Tea service, with delicious refreshments, decorations in Falkville’s school colors and spring flowers, memorabilia from school years 2006 and 2007 to 2016 -2017. Some teachers and administrators from those years also attended. Congratulations and Best Wishes, Seniors!

Jim and Karen Bryant Walker spent May 25 to May 30 in the area visiting relatives and friends. They brought flowers for Karen’s parents, Price and Rachel Anders Bryant’s graves and grandparents Will and Bertha Minter Anders graves. Sun., May 28 was Evergreen Cemetery Decoration Day. On Mon., May 29, Karen and Jim celebrated their 46th anniversary with her sister, Kay Farrer and other relatives from Morgan, Cullman and Colbert Counties. On Tues., May 30, they returned home to DeSoto, Kansas.

The Massey Community supper on Fri., May 19 at 5:30 p.m. featured tacos, taco salad with salsa, cheese dip, guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, brownies and ice cream, tea and soft drinks. Celebrate Recovery met on Fri., May 26 for their regular meeting and discussion groups.

Lynn and Zana Thompson, Melanie Adams, Bailey and Taylor Adams and Frances Rowe of Massey attended a dinner buffet event at the Dome in Cullman at 7 p.m. on May 18. Stone Bridge Farm catered the party and entertainment was provided by Michael Dean as Elvis and musician and singers Memphis. Van Foote Stisher, formerly of the Salem community, is a member of that group.

The Senior Citizens who attended Corinth West Baptist’s special Memorial program and lunch enjoyed GayNell Wilhite’s devotional and the tribute to those who passed away in the past year. Everyone sang Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to those honored. Door prizes were given and prayer requests made. JoAnn Thompson led the prayer for those. Roxanne Asherbranner sang Peace in the Valley and the congregation joined her singing the chorus. David Shedd, Hilton Kelly, Tony Smithson and others prepared the delicious fish fry and hush puppies. They also fried chicken tenders. Church members and area visitors provided sides and desserts. To go meals were prepared and delivered to shut-ins by Belinda and Larry Ricks and David Shedd. GayNell Wilhite called four Bingo games. The next Senior Day will be Tues., June 20 at 11 a.m. with hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch.

Christian love and heartfelt prayers go out this week for Ken Winkles.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week for Letha Hopkins who is having therapy at Health South in Huntsville and then she will transfer to Summerford’s. She had back surgery at Huntsville.

Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week for Sarah Gaines on May 27 and happy birthday wishes go out this week for Sue Gravlee and she will celebrate her birthday on June 3. Happy birthday wishes also go out this week for Theron Anders and he will celebrate his birthday on June 8.
