The Brewer Lady Patriots certainly looked the part with two strong wins in a summer play date tournament that Brewer hosted this past Friday June 9th. The Lady Patriots took on both Locust Fork and Haleyville.

Brewer took the lead over Locust Fork first as a three point play from McCarley Northway along with five points from Hannah Graves gave the Patriots a 18-6 lead. Brewer extended their lead to 26-11 thanks to baskets from Jaycie Andrews and Henslee Brindley, but Locust Fork closed the half on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 26-18. Brewer exploded out of the second half and pushed their lead to 33-20. The Lady Patriots held on to win the game 46-38.

In the second game, the Lady Patriots took on Haleyville. Brewer dominated the game from start to finish. The Lady Patriots held the Lions scoreless for the last eight minutes of the game and went on to win 44-11.

Brewer followed up their strong performance on Friday by winning three games in a play date tournament at the University of Alabama on Monday.

Brewer will only get stronger this season when star player Shyan Flack returns from a season ending knee injury that she suffered in January of last year. The Lady Patriots return the majority of their players this year including four of five starters.
