Cyclist medflighted from Hartselle

A man was hit while attempting to cross Highway 31 on a bicycle last night around10 p.m.
The accident occurred near Hardee’s at Highway 31 and Limestone Street.
The only injury was the cyclist, John Emmitt Sharpley, 48.
Hartselle Police Captain Tom Sparks said a vehicle traveling in the northbound lane stuck Sharpley, as he was attempting to cross that lane. The vehicle was a gray Saturn Vue. There were no injuries reported in the vehicle.
The victim was medflighted to Huntsville Hospital from the scene.
The seriousness of his injuries was not available at the time of this interview. Sparks was unsure if there would be an investigation into the cause of the accident.
