All Star week is going on this week in Montgomery and Morgan County will be represented in the various contests. Six athletes from the schools Hartselle, Brewer, Priceville, Danville and Falkville will represent the county. Those players are Garrett Wade from Hartselle, Trevor Oakes from Hartselle, Connor Landers from Hartselle, Caleb Meyer from Hartselle, Alexis Snow from Danville and Alex Fowler from Falkville.

Trevor Oakes, Hartselle football: Oakes took the most peculiar path to get to this game. After backing up Jake Tiffin for three seasons, Oakes made the most of his single season by throwing for over 2,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns. This earned him several college offers and he ultimately decided to sign with Birmingham Southern. However, Oakes is excited to get to play with Hartselle teammates one more time. “It means the world to me to be able to play with Connor and Caleb one more time is special because I’ve played with them since we were little kids,” Oakes said. “It was definitely an honor to be selected and something I feel proud to be apart of.”

Caleb Meyer, Hartselle football. Meyer spent three seasons as a starting defensive end for the Hartselle Tigers, helping them reach the playoffs in each season. Meyer racked up 71 tackles in the regular season of last year. This game will wrap up his career as a football player. “It’s an honor to be selected to play in this game, especially from the talent pool of the entire state,” Meyer said. “It’s something that’s very satisfying after putting in all that hard work. It makes it all worth it.”

Connor Landers, Hartselle football. Like Meyer, Landers also started for the Tigers for three years. Landers played middle linebacker and finished his senior year as the Tigers leading tackler with over 100 tackles. Also like Meyer, Landers will be suiting up for the last time. “Having the opportunity to play in this type of game and to represent Hartselle is really an honor,” Landers said. “I am glad I get to put on the pads one more time.”

Garrett Wade, Hartselle baseball: Wade is the only Hartselle nominee to not yet have graduated. Wade has already committed to play baseball for the Auburn Tigers after high school and will be Hartselle’s number one pitcher. He finished the season strong last year with a 3-1 record in his last four starts, which included a win over Cullman. He also threw 33 strikeouts in those three wins. “I’m excited about being able to play in the all-star game.” Wade said. “I’m blessed to have been selected for the event because it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Alexis Snow, Danville volleyball: Snow makes the all-star team after spending her first three years at Danville as the libero. She was on the 2014 state championship team as a freshman and helped the lead the Hawks to back-to-back state semi finals appearances in 2015 and 2016. Winning another state championship will be on task for her senior season as will picking out where she chooses to play her college ball at. “I’m so excited that I get to play in the game I’ve dreamed about since my freshman year,” Snow said. “I can’t wait to represent Danville and the North team!”

Alex Fowler, Falkville baseball. Falkville’s multi sport athlete makes the all-star team for baseball. Last season he helped lead the Blue Devils to an area championship and to the playoffs. He will look to lead them even farther this year.
