If we are not careful in time of plenty it is very easy to find ourselves wanting to take credit for what we have achieved. Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us, “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy father’s, as it is this day.” It is God who blesses us with our abundance but we are so busy gathering and collecting that we push God right out of our lives. We must not forget God because He could so easily remove His blessings from us. Wealth is a blessing only if we use it in the way God intended. Remember that the most valuable thing in life, your relationship with God, is free.

Looking for somewhere to spend a little time? Please consider the Old Somerville Courthouse.

The Historic Somerville Courthouse is the oldest original courthouse in Alabama. It was constructed in 1837, built with special taxes that were levied by the Alabama Legislature. Court proceedings took place there until the county seat was moved to Decatur in 1891. Later that year, the Courthouse became the home of the Morgan County College, a Presbyterian training school. More recently, the Courthouse has served as a senior citizens’ center and has become the focal point for community events. The two-story federal style building has undergone extensive restorations throughout the years, but still has most of its original architectural features. The Courthouse is located at 24 Courthouse Square, Somerville, AL 35640. It’s open to the public Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open on weekends upon request. The Courthouse is also available for rental for weddings, reunions and parties. For more information, call 256-778-8282.
