Hartselle finishes runner-up at Eddie Preuitt

The Hartselle Lady Tigers hosted their annual Eddie Preuitt Ford volleyball tournament this weekend, and the rising Tigers put on a strong showing, advancing all the way to the finals of the tournament.

Hartselle opened up the tournament with a 2-0 drumming of Oxford, winning the sets 25-18 and 25-12. The Lady Tigers then proceeded to defeat Boaz 2-1 (25-16, 22-25 and 15-12) and Ramsay 2-0 (25-18 and 25-18) to move on to the Gold bracket.

Once there, Hartselle defeated the 7A Buckhorn Lady Bucks 2-1 (21-25, 25-22 and 15-10). Hartselle advanced all the way to the finals of the tournament before the Lady Tigers were defeated by 7A No. 8 Spain Park 2-0 (21-25 and 23-25).

Lexie Smith and Lillyanna Cartee led the way offensively with 32 and 29 kills respectively. They also had 20 and 13 digs respectively.

Abby Arias had 42 digs in the tournament, while Maggie Smith finished with 19 kills. Hailey Holshouser had 22 digs and 22 kills during the tournament. Karmyn Key had 99 total assists during the tournament to go along with three aces and a couple digs and kills.
