Hartselle downs Danville again

After two rough losses on Tues., Sept. 26 to Austin and Lawrence County, Hartselle rebounded with strong wins over Athens and Ardmore. The Lady Tigers picked up two more big wins Thursday night when they defeated the Muscle Shoals Lady Trojans and the Danville Lady Hawks.

The win over the Hawks was the biggest as it marked the second time this season that the Tigers knocked off the class 4A fourth ranked team. The Tigers fell16-25 in the first set but rebounded with a 25-11 win in set two and a 15-9 win in set three to take the overall win 2-1. Hartselle also defeated Muscle Shoals 2-0 (25-9 and 25-14).

Hailey Holshouser led the way for the Tigers with 10 kills and 32 digs, while Lillyanna Cartee finished with 11 kills and 19 digs. Abby Arias had 33 digs and Karmyn Key had 33 assists. Madalyn Holladay led the way for the Hawks against Hartselle with 5 kills and 9 digs. Kayla Compton finished with 2 aces, 10 assists and 7 digs.

Danville also picked up a win over Muscle Shoals 2-1 (17-25, 25-21 and 15-10). Madalyn Holladay had 10 kills and 6 digs, while Melissa Pike had 5 kills and 12 digs. Madison Cartee had 3 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces.
