Falkville Fall Festival

The Falkville Fall Festival hosted more than 5,000 people Oct. 14.

The festival kicked off with 150 runners who participated in the Color Run, a pancake breakfast put on by the fire department and hours of entertainment through music, vendor booths and food options.

Among participants, 22-year-old Shaina Shedd participated in the color run and visited the fall festival afterward for the first time. She said she had fun from start to finish.

“I was very excited because this was my second 5K in the last couple months, and I did better than I thought I would, beating my last 5K time by over four minutes,” Shedd said. “It was a lot of fun, and the other runners were very supportive of each other. I felt very accomplished and very grateful for events like this that give you the opportunity to push yourself and reach your goals.” The fall festival, Shedd added, “was a lot of fun too, and  the Cattlemen’s Association steak sandwiches were probably my most favorite thing. It was a really good reward to get to eat one after running three miles.

“To me, the most fun activity at the fall festival was the knocker balls. It was hilarious and very entertaining.”

Town clerk Dawn Estes said there were 65 vendors present at the festival, as well as 50 cars for the car show and 53 tractors in the antique tractor show.

The Masonic Lodge also had 53 motorcycles in the fundraising run.

Sweet Tea Trio and Riley Green, two of the headlining musical acts, were the talk of the festival.
