Hay Day is back and set for Oct. 28 in downtown Hartselle.

The 2016 event hosted nearly 3,500 people, and the goal for 2017 is 5,000 in attendance.

City of Hartselle event coordinator Staci McCormick said they will have even more room for fun this year.

“We’re going to have Main Street closed and be able to use it with the inflatables, two hay rides, six food trucks scheduled, and the local merchants will be handing out candy,” McCormick said. “Additional businesses will also be there handing out candy. There will be a costume contest inside Life Church as well.”

The event will last from 5-8 p.m. and will have a movie to follow at the Farmer’s Market at 8 p.m. “Ernest Scared Stupid” will be showing.

“The event is completely free, except food purchases from the food vendors,” McCormick said. “Any additional businesses or people are also welcome to come and hand out candy; we just have to be notified that you are doing so by (Oct. 26).”

It is recommended that movie-goers bring blankets or lawn chairs for the Farmer’s Market.

“There will be live music in Life Church’s parking lot, and Bentleys will be opened that night late as well,” McCormick said.

Hay rides will start in front of the Depot, and the inflatables will be located behind Something Blue.

“We ask that if you do come and give out candy, representing your business, that you do not bring things to sell,” McCormick said. “You can bring literature to promote your business, but you cannot bring products to sale.”
