TRINITY – After leading for the entire game, the West Morgan varsity girls defeated East Lawrence 56-46 on Monday evening in the first round of the Class 3A Area 15 Tournament.

The game was close through the end of the second quarter with West Morgan holding a 22-17 at the half. During the third quarter, Lindsey Goodwin of West Morgan scored nine points helping her team race out to a firm 37-22 lead. Goodwin scored a game-high total of 17 points for the Lady Rebels.  Haley Dotson chipped in 12.

West Morgan will play Clements on Thursday at 6 p.m for the area championship.
