Falkville Town Council reached an agreement to purchase computers, cameras, lights and other equipment for two new police patrol vehicles for $21,400 at a work session Jan. 29.
The council approved a purchase price of $73,533 for two new Chevrolet Tahoes from Sharp Solutions at a regular meeting Jan. 8.
“We expect the cars to arrive around mid-February,” said Police Chief Chris Free.
“They’ll have to be striped and equipped before we can use them. That will take a couple of weeks.”
The council also discussed the replacement of a float probe at the town’s main sewage lift station, located on the school campus.
Mayor Ken Winkles reported a quote of $1,450 for the probe and estimated an installation cost of $1,800.
It was agreed that the item should be placed on the agenda and considered at the next regular meeting Feb. 5.
The mayor also reported that Filas, the town’s former K-9 dog, was sold for $2,500 and has been placed back in service by his new owner.
