Funeral for Marcus Herald Nelson, 86, of Birmingham was Monday, June 10, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Penn and James B. Davis officiating.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at his residence. A native of Morgan County, he was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church in Birmingham, Grand Lodge F.A.M. Lodge 98 and the Hartselle Masonic Lodge. He was retired from the city of Birmingham. He was the widower of Mary Eunice Penn Nelson and the brother of the late Wayne Nelson and Buron Nelson.
He is survived by one son, Gregory H. Nelson of Irondale; three daughters Hilda "Mama Jo" Shadrick of Birmingham, Linda G. Plyler of Melbourne, Fla. and Norma L. Busenlehner of Hueytown; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
