Clements too much for the Blue Devils

The thunder you may have heard this past Friday evening could very well have been the thundering hoofs of the Clements Colts heading for Falkville.
Clements (1-2, 1-1) steamrolled the host Blue Devils 36-8 in a Class 2A, Region 8 battle.
The story of the game may well have been turnovers. The two teams combined coughed up the ball 13 times. Falkville (1-2, 0-2) had seven, Clements had six.
"We got a win. That's exactly what we came to Falkville to do," Clements head coach Mike Young said. "I thought we played well and played hard."
Yet the turnovers did not sit well with Young.
"That is something we will have to work on during practice," he said. "You can't win a lot of games with ten balls on the ground (fumbles)."
In the first quarter, Clements' Ryan Kuhlman scored to get the Colts on the score board first.
Early in the second quarter, his teammate, Antwan Middleton, scored for the Colts again making the score 13-0.
Midway through the second stanza, Ian Thompson, returning after sitting out last week with pink eye, provided magic by scampering 78 yards for the Blue Devils' only touchdown.
The two point conversion was made by Todd Russell running the ball into the end zone.
With time running out in the second quarter, Clements' Jon Berthiaume was on the receiving end of a Casey McBride pass for a nine-yard touchdown for the Colts.
The score remained 20-8 until the third quarter.
With 10:25 left in the third quarter, Patrick Holt ran a fumble for 40 yards and another Colts score, making it 27-8.
In the fourth quarter, the Colts tackled a Blue Devil in the end zone for a safety, making the score 29-8.
Clements did not stop there. In fact, the Colts were still passing the ball with less than a minute remaining in the contest.
