Staff Reports, Hartselle Enquirer
Thousands of people will be heading to Morgan County this weekend to take part in two local festivals.
Depot Days will be held in Hartselle starting with the Community Worship service at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.
The next night, Down Memory Lane, a look at Hartselle's railroad history, will start at 6:30 p.m. and on Sept. 26, live entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. in E.A.R.T.H. Park.
The main event will be on Saturday, with a day-long celebration in downtown Hartselle. This year's entertainment will include the Max-Air Trampoline show.
For a complete schedule of this year's Depot Days events, see the special section inside today's issue of the Enquirer.
As Hartselle celebrates Depot Days, Eva Frontier Days will be going on just down the road.
Frontier Days will begin Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. with a Bluegrass Festival at Eva Ballpark. The festival will feature the Hurricane Creek Band.
Picking and grinning will begin at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring their instruments and join in the fun. Admission is $5.
A hayride will be held Sept. 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. and a community singing will be held Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 28, events will include an antique tractor show (registration begins at 9 a.m.) and local entertainment from 9 -11 a.m. A parade will start at 11 a.m. and David Davis and the Warrior River Boys will perform at noon and 2 p.m.
A best-dressed contest, chili cookoff and crosscut saw contest will be held at 1 p.m. Comedy from "Skins and Bones" will be presented at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
A pig calling contest will be held at 3:15 p.m., a frog jumping contest at 4 p.m. at the ballfield and a greased pig chase at 5 p.m., also at the ballfield.
Bring your instrument and lawn chair and enjoy under-the-tree picking all day long.
