Danville graduate seeing floor more than expected

Dee Bell had a feeling he was getting someone special.
He was right.
Bell, head coach of the Maryville (Tenn.) College Lady Scots, had nothing but good things to say about Charise Bain.
"Without question, she is the most coachable player I have," Bell said. "She's a great person and I enjoy having her around."
Bain, who graduated from Danville High School this past spring, is a freshman at Maryville, but not playing like one.
She has started one game for the Lady Scots (4-2) and is averaging nearly seven points per game and six rebounds per game.
"She has done exactly what we wanted her to," Bell said, who has shuffled his starting lineup every game. "We try to play the ones who perform well in practice, and she is. I knew when we landed her we were getting a big time player."
Bain was an All-State performer at Danville for the 2001-2002 season. This year at Maryville, she is primarily a backup for a more experienced player.
"That's really helping her," Bell said. "Sometimes she plays so well we can't take her off the floor. And she can only get better."
Maryville College is located in Tennessee, about 15 minutes south of Knoxville. It is an NCAA Division III school.
