"Hartselle: The City of Southern Hospitality." That's what visitors coming to town see on our welcome signs.
It's only when they spend time here, though, that they learn the true meaning of the phrase.
Thanks to its people and their lifestyles, Hartselle and all of Morgan County are prime examples of the gentility that is Southern hospitality. It can be seen in the faces of our school children, experienced at our numerous churches and enjoyed with our families.
From fried green tomatoes to friendly neighbors, life around here is about as Southern as it gets.
This year, the Enquirer's annual Progress edition will take a look at the City of Southern Hospitality and the surrounding areas. We'll introduce you to some fascinating folks and show you some interesting places, all of which make up our unique and thriving community.
This section is the largest ever published by the Enquirer.
"We hope that you enjoy this special section," Publisher Leada DeVaney said. "We've enjoyed putting it together for you and learning more about our area's unique past, exciting present and growing future."
DeVaney also thanked those who are a part of this Progress section.
"This special project would not have been possible without the Enquirer staff, those featured in our stories and our advertisers. I'd like to thank all of you.
"As we all deal with the uncertainty in the world today, we hope this section will give remind everyone of just how precious our community."
