Bethel students earn honors

Bethel Baptist School seventh grader Josh Teague and sixth grader Hannah Waugh were notified recently that they are winners in the Alabama Christian Education Association State Poetry and Essay Competition.
Their entries have been sent to the American Association of Christian Schools national office for judging.
They will receive a medal for their state win and will be notified in May if they placed in the national competition.
Both students were also nominated to attend the Junior National Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. The nomination was based on scholastic merit, maturity and leadership potential. Josh is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Royce Teague of Somerville and Hannah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Waugh of Hartselle.
Also, Robin Irvin, a junior at Bethel Baptist School, will represent the state in poetry at the American Association of Christian Schools National Competition. The competition will be held at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC on April 8-10. He placed at the Alabama Christian Education Association's state competition in early March. He is the son of Sharon Farley of Decatur and Douglas Irvin of Decatur.
