Hartselle Park and Recreation plans an array of activities
A cheerleading clinic, instructed by Brewer Co-ed Cheerleading Squad under the supervision of Terri Leeth, will be held Aug. 4-6 at 9-11:30 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. Cost is $25 per student ages 5-13. The squad will teach gymnastics, stunts, cheers, and dances. Registration is July 28-Aug. 1 at Sparkman Civic Center.
All summer
The Hartselle Pool is now open. Hours are Monday-Saturday 1-5:50 p.m. and 7-8:50 p.m., and Sunday 1-5:50 p.m. Afternoon admission is $4.50 for ages 6 and up and $2.50 for ages 5 and under. Evening rates are $3 and $1.50 respectively. Season passes are $65 per person and $175 for a family of four. Additional family members are $35 each.
June 2
Get a workout, catch a few rays, and have fun all at the same time. Water aerobics will begin on Monday, June 2 at the Hartselle Pool. Classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7:45-8:45 a.m. Fee is $25 per month. Valerie Johnson is the instructor. Registration is not required.
A baton clinic on the basics of twirling, instructed by Vikki Bantz, will be held June 2-4 at 9-11:30 a.m. for girls ages 6-15 at Sparkman Civic Center. Fee is $20. To reserve your spot, register May 27-30.
June 9
Hartselle High School Basketball Coach Johnny Berry and his coaching staff will host a basketball clinic June 9-13 at Sparkman Civic Center. Contact Coach Berry for more information.
June 13
Splash into summer with the second annual Cannonball Contest held Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at Hartselle Pool. Make the biggest splash from the high dive to claim the trophy. Regular pool admission is the only fee and no registration is required. Age divisions are 16 and up, 10-15, and 9 and under.
June 16
The annual AYSO Soccer Clinic will be held June 16-20 at 9 a.m. at Walker Field. A $25 registration fee includes daily refreshments and a T-shirt. Each student must bring shin guards and, if possible, a soccer ball. Please register and pay June 2-13 at Sparkman Civic Center. Students should be at least 4 1/2 years old.
June 23
Donnie Chappell, head instructor at Chappell's Family Karate, will teach life skills in a Christian environment during a karate clinic for ages 3 and up June 23-27 at Sparkman Civic Center. The fee, which includes a T-shirt, is $25. Registration is June 16-20 at Sparkman Civic Center.
June 24
Get lots of splash for no cash at the Hartselle Pool on June 24 from 7-8:50 p.m. Enjoy a free night of swimming courtesy of Hartselle Park and Recreation.
July 14
An Introduction to Tennis Clinic will be held July 14-18 at 6-8 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. Students should have a racket, a can of tennis balls, and a pair of tennis shoes. The clinic is for beginner to intermediate students ages 6-16. The fee is $25 per person. Registration is July 7-11 at Sparkman Civic Center.
Learn everything from props and makeup to stage performance in Hartselle Park and Recreation's first drama clinic with Bethel Baptist Church and School Fine Arts Director Jon Nichols on July 14-25 at 9 a.m.-noon at Sparkman Civic Center.
The class is for ages 12-15 and is $50 for the two-week session. A performance of the play will be held July 25 at 6 p.m.
Interested parties may register no later than July 1.
July 18
Enjoy a Summer Splash Party at Hartselle Pool on Friday, July 18 at 7-10 p.m. The pool deck will be decorated and there will be limbo contests, a water rodeo, and much more.
Admission is $4 for ages 6 and up, $2 for ages 5 and under, and $1 per person with a season pass.
July 28
The Hartselle Junior High School Dance Team will sponsor a dance clinic July 28-Aug. 1 at 9-11 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center for girls ages 5-11.
The team will teach dance steps and routines. Registration is July 21-25 at Sparkman Civic Center.
Aug. 4
Monday, Aug. 4 is Dollar Night at Hartselle Pool with $1 admission from 7-8:50 p.m. Don't miss it.
Aug. 22
Join your friends at the "Back to School" dance on Friday, Aug. 22 from 7-11 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center.
Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. For safety reasons, children will not be allowed outside of the gym alone and parents must come inside to pick them up.
