Staff Reports, Hartselle Enquirer
The Hartselle Police Department's annual tobacco sales compliance check cited eight businesses for selling to minors.
According to Lt. Tom Sparks, the department does the checks on an annual basis. The department uses an underage person to go into the establishments to try and purchase tobacco products.
Alabama law requires someone to be at least 19 to purchase tobacco products.
Sparks said the following businesses were cited: Bud's Chevron, Johnathan's Texaco, Hartselle Exxon, West 36 One Stop, Ramey's Shell, Tobacco Express, Country Corner and the Amoco station located at Highway 36 and Interstate 65.
