Funeral for Paul Burns, 83, of Hartselle was Sunday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at Son Rise Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Revs. Charles Foreman, Glenn Smallwood and Jack Garnett officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Burns died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Lauderdale County to John Franklin Burns and Nannie Maude Phillips Burns. He was a self-employed commercial house painter. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, and a member of Son Rise Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Burns also raised four nephews, Bill, Wayne, Mike and Greg Brady.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Brady Burns of Hartselle; one son, Johnny Ray Burns of Hartselle; one brother, Barney M. Burns Sr. of Moulton; three sisters, Clara Martin of Sheffield, Hazel Inez Russell of Pensacola, Fla., and Mary Gertrude Issacs of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lynn Burns, Chad Burns, Brent Burns, B.J. Brady, Bill Brady, Wayne Brady, Mike Brady and Greg Brady.
