Harnes finishes basic training
Marine Corps Pvt. Steven M. Harnes, a 2002 A.P. Brewere High School graduate of Somerville, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. The training was designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
Kyker returns from gulf
Marine Lance Cpl. Jeffrey P. Kyker, son of Jerry and Mary Kyker of Hartselle, has returned from duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kyker departed Jan. 7 aboard the USS Saipon and returned June 22 to New River Marine Corp Air Station in Jacksonville, N.C. He will return to Hartselle in mid-July for a two-week leave.
