It's show time … sort of

Tigers host Jamboree Friday; will face N. Jackson

When asked what he would like to his team accomplish Friday night, he said "good question." A long pause followed.
Then, new Hartselle head football coach Bob Godsey came out firing.
"I want to see us put it together on both offense and defense," he said. "I want to see how we handle getting knocked around a bit."
The Tigers host North Jackson (4A) Friday night in this year's jamboree. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Godsey, who is in his first year at Hartselle and 14th year in football coaching, actually wants to accomplish a lot Friday night.
"We've got a lot of unanswered questions," he said. "An example is up front on the lines. How are these guys going to perform."
Godsey considers the offensive and defensive fronts a weakpoint, if there is one. But, the Tigers' skill positions would be a strongpoint.
Wide receiver and Alabama commit Nikita Stover will get his first shot to shine Friday. At quarterback, junior Seth Watson will start with limited experience from last season. His only varsity start was in the final game of the 2002 regular season against Lawrence County.
Running back Isiah Herring will be back after starting alongside Jeremy Orr last season.
According to Godsey, other players will step up Friday night.
"Anytime you play, regardless of how hard you prepare, you're going to have to make adjustments," he said. "North Jackson is going to be a good football team. They are going to be physical and come right at us."
North Jackson boasts one of the top players in the state in Blake Schrader.
He is versatile, and could line up at quarterback and cornerback.
"It's just a chance to get out on the field and play hard," Godsey said. "It will be an opportunity to get those first game jitters and bugs out of the way."
