Coaches in coverage area great to work with

I can almost hear Hank Williams Jr. now…
"Are you ready for some football?"
Well, I am.
I'm convinced three years worth of little league baseball was just crammed into one summer, but now I know, football season is here.
Two match-ups in the Enquirer's coverage area make it an exciting first week again.
Hartselle gets to host Austin this year, while Falkville travels to Danville tonight for what some consider each team's biggest game of the year.
Priceville will host Fayetteville and Brewer gets a return trip from Fort Payne.
I hope to get out to cover all the teams this year. Nothing really can compare to the sound of helmets and shoulder pads popping against bright lights. And I enjoy seeing all the teams play in the area.
High school football always is fun to cover. And what makes my job that much easier is a stable of outstanding coaches to work with.
First off, new Hartselle head coach Bob Godsey is outstanding to work with. He's easy to talk with and makes no excuses for himself or team.
Hartselle is heading in the right direction.
Coach Joey Burch of Danville just tells it how it is. He knew last year would be rough for him and the Hawks.
With little experience last season, Burch said all he wanted to do was get the young guys on the field. It will pay off this season for Danville, with a few more seniors and quite a bit of talent in his junior class.
Jeff Miller will start his fifth year at Falkville, and like Burch, doesn't have to many seniors for underclassmen to look up to.
However, Miller is good at getting the best out of every single kid, claiming he prides himself on having his team conditioned to the very best.
It could be one heck of a game tonight in Danville.
Marty Chambers may have been the perfect fit for Priceville three years ago. With a Bulldog football team non-existent before he arrived, Chambers is molding a team of outstanding football players.
The 2003 season will be the last year he and the Bulldogs have to wait before competing in Class 2A, Region 7.
Second-year head coach Robert Peppers also is in a unique situation at Brewer.
With many players not playing football until middle school or even high school, Peppers, like Chambers, is slowly molding his Patriots into a contender. The only difference is Peppers has to have his team ready for Class 5A.
This football season may be one of the best in recent memory. All I can say is good luck, and thanks to the coaches for being so easy to work with.
