Copeland Corporation celebrates 25th year in Hartselle
Employees of Copeland Corporation recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of its compressor manufacturing plant in Hartselle.
Copeland Corporation, an Emerson Company, began production at the facility in 1978. The facility is part of Emerson Climate Technologies, a group of Emerson businesses that serve the global heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry.
The plant manufactures Copeland's "CR" product line, a family of compressors that operate with reciprocating technology to deliver cooling for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
"The plant owes its success and competitiveness to four factors: continued innovation in CR compressor design, implementation of lean manufacturing techniques, continuous improvement and the dedication and hard work of Hartselle employees," Max Banning, vice president and general manager of the Hartselle facility, said.
The facility is preparing to begin manufacturing the Copeland CR7, the seventh generation of the compressor. The new design increases performance and efficiency levels to meet new air conditioning system efficiency regulations scheduled to go into effect in 2006.
Allen Lee, director of operations for the Hartselle facility, attributes much of the facility's success to its dedicated workforce.
"The local workforce of Hartselle is definitely the best group of employees I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside," Lee said.. "Their work ethic and quality approach is demonstrated by their attitude to do whatever it takes to meet the needs of Copeland and Emerson Climate Technologies customers."
The employee's hard work has earned several honors.
The facility, which has maintained ISO 9002 status, has been awarded the Alabama and U.S. Senate Quality and Productivity Award, and recognized with numerous quality and safety awards from Emerson.
