Funeral for George John Mekras, 85, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Kimbril officiating.
Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Mekras died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Falkville Health Care Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Massachusetts to John George Mekras and Evangelia Laios Mekras.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Ward Mekras of Hartselle; one son, George Mekras, Jr. of Florida; one brother, Rev. Father Demo Mekras, Miami, Fla.; four stepsons, Rev. Gary Drinkard, Don Drinkard and Dale Drinkard, all of Waterford, Mich., and Ken Drinkard of Fla.; two stepdaughters, Judy Ritchie of Kalkaska, Mich. and Diane Allen of Decatur; four grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
