Funeral for J. W. "Jefferson Wiley" Maples, 84, of Hartselle was Monday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eldridge Criscoe officiating.
Burial was in Bartee Cemetery in Lacey's Spring.
Mr. Maples died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Madison County to Jefferson Noah Maples and Mary Virginia Lyon Maples. He was retired from the U.S. postal service where he worked as a rural mail carrier in the Lacey's Spring community. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Maples was preceded in death by a son, Don Maples Sr. and a daughter, Brenda Halbrooks.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Couey Maples of Hartselle; two sons, Ron Maples of Horton and Gary Blankenship of Hartselle; one sister, Mable Franklin of Clewiston, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and friends.
