Funeral for John Elbert Whisante, 82, of Valhermoso Springs, was Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Trosper officiating.
A graveside military service was held in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Whisante, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 9, 1921, in Morgan County to Frank Whisante and Augusta Moore Whisante. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Army in the South Pacific. He was the widower of Rachel Whisante.
He is survived by one daughter, Janice Wright and her husband Kenny of Somerville; one granddaughter, Natasha Ransom and husband, Leon of Valhermoso Springs; one grandson, Jason Puckett and Crissy Suggs, both of Valhermoso Springs; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Devin Ransom of Valhermoso Springs.
Pallbearers were Harless Whisante, Donny Whisante, Roger Whisante, James Petty, Johnny Whisante and Dusty Wilhoite.
