Priceville finishes fourth at holiday tourney

The Priceville Bulldogs (7-8) finished fourth out of eight teams at the West Point Boys Holiday Tournament held from Dec 26-29.
Priceville 59 Hanceville 50
Priceville won their opening game to qualify for the championship semi-finals. Sophomore guard Alex Cannon led the Bulldogs to the opening win with 26 points and five steals.
Priceville trailed 27-24 with 3:39 left in the third period when Cannon sank a three-pointer to tie the game. He then stole an inbound pass and scored on a lay up to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game. Cannon who had only two points at half time scored 15 in the third period; nine of the points came on three-of-three shooting from behind the three-point line.
Cannon then scored seven points down the stretch as the Bulldogs held on for a 59-50 opening round win.
West Point 81 Priceville 71
The Bulldogs lost in the semi-final round to the host West Point Warriors on Saturday night. Priceville trailed by 10 points at half time and would get no closer than seven points in the second half.
Ryan Mouser led the Bulldogs with 19 points followed by Josh Bedwell with 17.
Cold Springs 68 Priceville 55
The Bulldogs fell to the Cold Springs Eagles in the third-place game on Monday night.
With the game tied at 16 in the second period of play the Bulldogs went on a 12-8 run to grab a 28-24 half time lead.
In the third period with the Bulldogs leading 37-36, Cold Springs went to a pressing defense to speed up the tempo of play. The press allowed the Eagles to go on a 26-15 run to give Cold Springs a 62-52 lead with 1:25 to play. Cold Springs made six free throws to seal the win and send Priceville home in fourth place.
"After they got the lead they made all their important shots down the stretch and we didn't," said Bulldog head coach Darrell Haynes.
