2002 -February 5, Sister Christine Wiltrakis, who is the director of leadership and community development at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hartselle, will be leading the "Women's Day of Reflection" during Lent.
2003 -February 6, Vertical Ministries of Birmingham will present the "Stay the Course" Bible study program based on I Corinthians here early next month. The teacher will be Jarrod Jones.
1917 -February 7, As the cook at the home of Morgan County Tax Collector Charles Robertson was building a fire in the large range at his home this morning the stove exploded and burst into a considerable number of pieces, injuring the domestic servant severely.
1896 -February 8, Two Morgan County men having on the application of next friends been found by the court to be of unsound mind were today sent to the state insane asylum in Tuscaloosa.
1931 -February 8, J. H. Roberts, who for many years had cared for the flowers and shrubs in Johnson's Chapel cemetery, was buried Saturday. Roberts dropped dead Friday while digging a grave at the cemetery.
1923 -February 9, Only a mile from the spot where his 18-year-old son met death under the wheels of a train five years ago, Dude Phillips, aged 70 years, was fatally injured by a train Wednesday. Phillips resided in the Wilhite neighborhood and the scene of the accident was near L &N bridge No. 20. Friends picked up the aged man following the accident and started to the hospital, but Mr. Phillips died by the time Falkville was reached.
2003 -February 9, The episode of "Fear Factor" which Jason and Misti Palmer of Hartselle taped back in November will air on NBC tomorrow night.
